Where do I find authentic Singapore or Malaysian Food in Qingdao?

I have been trying to find authentic Singapore or Malaysian food in Qingdao for quite a while.  The closest I've found was in Shangrila Hotel where I have tasted Singapore 'Laksa', although there are quite a few Thai restaurants in Qingdao. I've been craving for them for quite sometime.

There seems to be a fairly large expat community in Qingdao. They even have a community newspaper called The Qingdao Expat. For latest info your best bet is probably to hook up with them. You are in luck that Qingdao is well known for its fresh seafood supply, a key ingredient with Laksa dishes. See if this helps? http://www.qingdaochinaguide.com/restaurants/thai-vietnamese/ Banana Leaf (listed) is well known in SE Asia for their Singaporean/Malaysian/Thai dishes, with me being one of their long time customers. I hope the one they have in Qingdao can adhere to their international standard.

The secret of Laksa/Curry dishes is the use of fresh ingredients. They aren't that difficult to find and the dishes aren't difficult to make. If you can't find fresh ones powder form is OK. Haha, maybe one day you can tell people the most authentic Singaporean/Malaysian/Thai dishes you can find in Qingdao is inside your kitchen.enlightened
